Test Administration

Administering Tests Around the Country and abroad

NTA will administer all of its tests in Computer-based Tests(CBT) mode. These will be administered at NTA-authorized, technologically equipped test centres.

A)ALL TESTS TO BE DONE IN ONLINE MODE (COMPUTER BASED TESTS)

The other important aspect of NTA will be that all tests will be computer based tests (CBTs). This will ensure that high volume can be processed in a short period of time. The online testing will eliminate the possibility leakage of questions/question papers, post test malpractice of filling in the OMR sheets, late entry of students to cheat in the test, subjectivity errors on descriptive testing, etc. In addition it will also allow students to edit their answer. The online testing will also indicate the number of concepts being tested in a question item. In a short period of 3 Years, all the tests administered by NTA will be computer adaptive. This will completely eliminate the problem of cheating.

B) TO CONDUCT TESTS MORE THAN ONCE

With the operationalization of NTA, the students will get opportunity to appear for a test more than once. This will reduce the stress on students. The best of the attempts made by a student will be considered as his or her final score. The basis of equating will be a major change in the culture of entrance tests in India. As tests would be held twice or multiple times it would necessitate multiple sets of question papers which are comparable in terms of difficulty level. This would be achieved by developing technically indexed item bank informed by psychometric practices.

Accommodating Test Takers with Special Needs

NTA will ensure that all students have a fair opportunity to demonstrate what they know and have learned, including test takers with special needs. In computer-based test also the NTA will arrange:
  • additional time for taking the test
  • scribe
  • Bigger Font Text and customized presentation colours
